Fall 2013

This semester I got to focus completely on animation. ANI 115 had me create my own short film from start to finish. The whole class was really rewarding.

Here are some model sheets for Rover:

ANI 128a (Intermediate 3D animation) was a lot of fun. We worked on a few shots over the semester, learning about body mechanics. I can't wait to do more shots like these and apply some character to them as well.

In October, I took part in the 24-Hour Animation Contest for Students on a team with my good friends Alvin Concepcion, Amanda Sharpe, Clayton Chan, and Oscar Guevara. We had 24 hours to create a 30-second animated short based on the theme, "What would you do if you only had 24 hours left to live?" We competed with about 50 teams from a bunch of colleges, and we ended up placing 4th! It was a great experience to work on an entire production with great friends.

For Physics of Animation, we had a stop motion assignment involving character animation. In one day, Chris Helfrich, Jenn Long and I created this love story between two snails:

What a great and challenging semester. Working on full productions like these was challenging and incredibly rewarding. I look forward to developing my skills and making more collaborations. Yay!

My sister just started at the US Naval Academy. So naturally, I sent her a painting of our pets on a sailboat!

113a Still Life

From this Spring semester. All the shapes were traced down, so all we were working on was rendering.

First we did it in B&W...

then we used a made-up color palette. I used a neutralized/limited-palette.
